Creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities
Cornbelt AMBUCS, founded in 1982, is a non-profit service organization devoted to “Creating Mobility and Independence for People with Disabilities” in McLean County, IL by:
- Building wheelchair ramps;
-Providing AmTryke therapeutic tricycles to children with disabilities;
-Providing scholarships to students studying physical or
occupational therapy, pathology or hearing audiology.
In the 2009-2010 year , we built 28 wheelchair ramps requiring over 2,100 volunteer man-hours, we donated 17 AmTrykes to children with disabilities, and we awarded $3,000 in scholarships to therapy students.
The Cornbelt Chapter is one of over 125 chapters in 25 states with approximately 5,500 members.
